Smartphone-based mobile assisted language learning application in higher vocational education in Indonesia

This study sought to examine the educational affordance and constraints of smartphone-based assistive technology in language learning from students’ point view along with their recommendations on possible future advancement help students engage better. employed content analysis analyzing data obtained open-ended questions administered students. The findings this denote use smartphones widening vocabulary range, providing practices for English exercise, having attractive interactive features, fostering autonomy, self-regulation, independence due its practicality, portability, accessibility, flexibility. highlights technical problems confusion as obstacles emerging learning. Meanwhile, application updates are discussed detail. All all, is fruitful recommended be used vocational higher education part informal during COVID-19 pandemic situation.
